| | Notes: | Thomas was the son of Thomas Hightower Sr. and Kindness (maiden name unknown). There are comments out there on various Net locations giving the maiden name of Kindness as Prentess but they are without any real genealogical support. No later than 1768 Thomas married Susanna (maiden name unkown). There are comments out there on various Net sites giving the maiden name of Susanna as Harrington or Herrington but they are without any real genealogical support. A "Mrs. Hightower" was ordered executed in the Greenville District of South Carolina about 1780 by the notorious "Bloody" Bill Cunningham, a Tory, for refusing to divulge the location of her husband. This "Mrs. Hightower" is believed to be Susanna. Thomas was at the time serving in Col. Roebucks Regiment, South Carolina Militia. In about 1786 he married Jane "Jinsey" or "Jency," whose maiden name may have been Judson.
| | Notes: | Thomas Hightower, born 5 February 1736, Farnham Parish, Richmond County, Virginia. He moved with parents to Anson County, North Carolina, before 1758. Married first to Susanna who was brutally murdered about 1780 in South Carolina, by the notorious Bill Cunningham. Thomas Hightower was at the time serving in Col. Roebucks Regiment, South Carolina Militia. After the Revolutionary War, and before 1786, Thomas married his second wife, a young Indian woman named Jinsey (or Jane). The family resided in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, until 1794 when the moved to Warren County, Kentucky. Thomas Hightower died in Warren County, Kentucky, after 1807 but before 1810. Exact date and place of death and burial have not been determined. Thomas Hightower was a Revolutionary War Veteran serving the cause of the new Confederacy."

She may have been married prior to her marriage to Thomas Hightower, but no record has been found. Family tradition in my line as well as other descendants of Jinsey, claims that she was Native American. No proof has yet been found. Following the death of Thomas Hightower, she moved with her children to Izard County, Arkansas in November 1829. It has been reported, but not proven, that she later moved to what is today Oklahoma where she died sometime after 1840. No other information available | | |
