Notes:		 George Eugene Smith was born on 24 Feb 1860 in Massena, St. Lawrence, New York, son of Myron Thaddeus Smith and Harriet Harmar. Between 1862 and 1864, Myron Smith with his wife, Harriett, and their two sons, Fred and George, removed from Massena, New York to Minnesota Lake in Faribault County, Minnesota. Accompanying Myron’s family were two of Myrons brothers, Heman Reed Smith and George Alonzo Smith, and their families. The three brothers each claimed their 160 homestead acres in the township of Minnesota Lake, Faribault County, Minnesota George Eugene Smith married Mary Elizabeth Terhurne, daughter of Henry Terhurne and Wilhelmina Rauenhorst, on April 11, 1880 at Easton, Faribault, Minnesota. They couple settled in Springfield, Kossuth, Iowa (about two miles south of the Minnesota/Iowa border), where the first three of their 17 children were born. About 1885, George and Mary removed to Boyd, Minnesota where five more children were born. By 1892, the family was back in the Kossuth County, Iowa /Faribault County, Minnesota area for the birth of five more children. In 1900, the family moved into the towship of Elmore, where their last four children were born, and where they remained until the end of their days. All told, the couples 17 children included two sets of twins. Mary died in 1945 and George died in 1953.
