Daniel Hawley
Notes:		 Daniel Hawley was born 1774. He married Sarah Raymond. Daniel passed away 1844. According to the well researched and documented family history "Smith Hawley and his Descendants", by Marilyn Hawley Symonds [1], Daniel was born 3 May 1774, probably in S. Salem, New York, and died 5 Feb 1844 in Ontario, Canada. He married Sarah Raymond in 1795, the daughter of Lt. Sands Raymond (a Revolutionary soldier) and Sarah, his wife. Daniel brought his wife and seven children to Canada in October 1811 and settled in the Niagara District, #3, Haldimand Co., Ontario. He fought in the War of 1812, and placed a claim for damages after the war due to destruction by the Indians and their own troops of General Proctor while in retreat in October 1813. He petitioned for land in 1816 and again in 1837. Daniel and Sarah had 14 children. He is buried at Brant Cemetery, Ontario, Canada
