Harrod was a Methodist Circuit Riding Minister and probably held revivals at this church and could possibly have been pastor of this church. In an affidavit for a widow's pension, Martha J. (Runner) Harrod gave the death date of Catharine (Orange) Harrod as 6 October 1867. After Catharine (Orange) Harrod died, John re-married within 5 weeks to Miss Martha J. Runner on 21 November 1867 in Warren County, Ky. They were married by Thomas Bottomley. A copy of the marriage document of John H. Harrod to Martha J. Runner was in the pension file.

Hhis pension papers included affidavits from Cora Spencer He ard and Mary Stone Bellar.
