He served as deputy sherriff in Bledsoe County from 1972-1976 and fr om 1982-1986, he formerly worked for Marion County Sherriffs dept. A member of the Tennessee Sheriffs association, he was a veteren of the Vietnam Conflict, serving with the US Army.
