RUNNER, Butler County, was born November 10, 1825, in Warr en County, Ky., where he grew to manhood and lived until 1878, when he r emoved to Butler County, where he has since resided. His father, Willi am Runner, a native of Maryland, removed in childhood with his parent s, to Warren County, Ky., where he is now living, at the age of eighty-se ven years. He is the son of Adam Runner, who died in Warren County. Willi am was twice married; first, to Margaret, daughter of Christian and Pol ly (Whalen) Penner, of Warren County (died in 1828). From their union spr ang Zorilda J. (Anderson), John A., subject and Mary E. (Taylor). He ne xt married Sarah Watt, and their children are Silas M., William E. and Ri chard B. Subject enjoyed only limited educational advantages in youth, b ut by self-improvement and application, has obtained a fair business educ ation. He has been twice married; the first time on June 12, 1849, to Ade line M., daughter of Jesse and Sarah (Floyd) Watt, of Warren County, bo rn September 2, 1830; died November 14, 1868. To them were born Jesse A ., William T., Sarah M. (deceased), Mary E. (deceased), and John M. Mr. R unners second marriage took place June 14, 1869, to Zorilda J., daught er of James F. and Emery A. (Moore) Gott, of Edmonson County, who was bo rn May 21, 1843. This union has been blessed by the birth of James H., Na ncy A., Charles B., George M. and Robert C. Subject has served as magistr ate and member of the court of claims for ten years in Warren County, and has acted in the same capaci ty for the past four years in this county. He is a farmer by occupation h aving 200 acres of productive land in good condition, and a high state of cultivation.
