JOHN COWLES, son of Samuelâ€¢ (9), b. at Farmington, Conn.,Â· Â·Aug. 24, 1694; resided at Kensington, Conn., and was a member of the Congregational Church; will dated June 9, 1764; prpved June 2, 1766; inventory, Â£1023-7-3, taken May 26, 1766; on .file, State Library, Hartford; m. July 12, 1721, Mary Porter, b. April 4, 1698; d. after 1752 and before June 9, 1764, dau. of John and Rebecca (Woodford) Porter, of Kensington. John Porter was a son of Dr. Daniel Porter, of Farmington, Conn., who d. abt. 16go and was one of the first physicians and surgeoqs in the Colony, surgeon in the Pequot War, etc., and was particularly distinguished as a bone-setter.
