John Hawley, son of Joseph Hawley and his 2nd wife Katherine Birdsey, was born 14 June 1661, in Stratford, Connecticut 

Notes: "Capt John Hawley, son of Joseph the first, was probably married twice. Of Hannah, his first wife, nothing is known except that her name is recorded as a member of the church and the wife of John Hawley."[4] He married 23 Apr 1686, Deborah Pierson,[3][2] who died 3 Dec 1739 in her 73rd year.[3][2] Whose daughter she was is not known.[4] Capt. John Hawley died in Stratford 27 July 1729[2][3] ae 68 yr 1 mo., according to his gravestone.[3] He was buried at the Old Congregational Burying Ground in Stratford, Fairfield County, Connecticut, USA[5] John Hawleys will was dated 16 Mar 1727/8 and proved 23 Dec 1729. It mentions his wife, daughters Hannah and Mary; four sons Henry (eldest), John, Nathan, and Joseph; children of dau. Deborah (deceased); grand child John Porter (son of dau. Sarah deceased), whose grandfather was John Porter.[3][6][7] "He left a good estate in lands, in Durham, Haddam and Stratford, CT, amounting to over L 3000, a very nice sum in those days."[4] His inventory was taken on 13 November 1729 

Notes: John served as a Lieutenant for the Fairfield Troop raised to defend Fairfield County, from the Indians, in May 1704, Lt. of the Stratford Trainband May 1709 and as Capt of the north company of Stratford in Oct 1709. He was in 1700 and 1702 a sergeant and 1706 Lieut, at birth of children.[3][4] He was Stratfords Deputy to the Connecticut Legislature in Oct 1702, Oct 1705, May, Oct Dec 1707, Oct 1709, Oct 1720, May 1712, May 1713, May 1714, May and Oct 1716, Oct 1719, Man and Oct 1720, May and Oct 1721, May 1722, Oct 1723, May 1724.[3] He was elected Representative to the General Assembly for May 1702; October 1705; October 1707; October 1709; October 1710; May 1712, May 1713, May 1714; May 1716; October 1716; October 1719; May 1720; October 1720; May 1721; October 1721; October 1722; October 1723; May 1724 - 19 times.[4] He served as a Justice from 1720-28
