One reference lists her as Sarah Elizabeth Miller. She was born in Virginia. Some give her birth date 1784 and others 1787. One gave it 1792 - had she been born in 1792, she would have had her first son, Benjamin Runner born April 23, 1806, at age 14 which is unlikely. Her son, Henry Flora, in a census gave her birth as 1784 and said she was a native of Virginia. This would have made her 22 years old when her son Benjamin Runner was born. As her brother Henry was born in 1784, the more likely date would be 1787 (age 19 when Benjamin was born) and she would have been born between John Benjamin and James. Elizabeth was the second wife of Adam Runner (Second), and he was Lovis Runners brother, making Adam Runner (Second) the uncle of the four Honakers Elizabeths brothers and sisters married. The Honaker and Miller families were "close knit"! * When Polly Honaker married in 1810, consent for her marriage was given by her mother. In 1815, consent for Anna Honaker to marry was given by her step-father, Benjamin Jones. We can establish from these facts that Joseph Honaker had died sometime before 1810 and that his widow, Lovis Honaker, had married Benjamin Jones sometime between 1810 and 1815.

JACOB MILLER, SENIOR-THE GERMAN EMIGRANT According to Government records obtained by Sigfus Olafson, Jacob Miller was born in Germany in the year 1702 and came to America with his parents in 1715. They settled about 30 miles from the Port of Philadelphia, at a place known as Faulkners Swamp. Here Jacob, the boy, lived to manhood and at the age of 23 married a German girl of the same name, who either came over with them, or at a later date; more probably at a later date, since she was from another part of Germany and spoke a different dialect. One spoke High German, being from the Highlands, while the other spoke Low German, being from the Lowlands. Philadelphia being the port to which most of the early emigrants came, the nearby territory soon became thickly populated. Consequently they spread outward into the less settled parts of the surrounding country-Westward into the Pennsylvania Territory; South and Southwestward into the Virginia Territory. JACOB MILLER and family went south westward along the southern fringe of the Allegheny Mountains and found their way into the Shenandoah Valley, making their home in the fertile valley of (now) Rockingham County, near the present town of Harrisonburg, where be reared his family. We do not know the date he settled there, neither do we know how many children, since records are incomplete covering these early settlers, and we understand the court house of Rockingham County was destroyed by fire with all the County records. However, we do have the names of the following children: (Date of birth not given) 1-Christian 2-Henry 3-Jacob, Jr. 4-John, sr. 5-George 6-Barbary 7-Katherine. These were obtained in 1938 from Sigfus Olafson, who got them from U. S. Census records in Washington, D. C., as well as many other names of the descendants of Jacob Miller, given herein. See last paragraph of Chapter 2. Inasmuch as we owe to Mr. Olafson so many of the names recorded herein prior to 1860, we think it very appropriate to quote his opening paragraphs as given in his records of "THE MILLER FAMILY OF BOONE COUNTY," as follows: "Jacob Miller was born in Germany in 1702 and came to Philadelphia in 1715 when he was a boy of 13. He married a Miller, also a German, but not related to him, as one of the couple was from the highlands of Germany and spoke the dialect known as High German, while the other was from the lowlands and spoke the Low German dialect. "At this time Philadelphia was the port to which most of the German immigrants came, as well as many immigrants of other nationalities. There was not room for them in that vicinity so they naturally spread outward into the less settled portions of Pennsylvania and southward along the eastern ridge of the mountains, which at that time were an almost insurmountable barrier. In that way a good many of them found their way into the Shenandoah Valley, among whom was Jacob Miller. He settled in Rockingham County and there reared a large family." (Among the children were those given above.) Note: Apparently, the Jacob Miller mentioned in Everett Miller’s Genealogy as moving to Virginia was Jacob Miller Jr. Jacob Sr likely died in Pennsylvania. JACOB MUELLER/MILLER Jacob Miller was born 1702 in GERMANY, probably near Munich. Many German immigrants came from southern GERMANY during this time period. He immigrated from GERMANY with his parents about 1714 or 1715. There is no information on his parents. On the ship, Jacob met a young lady by the name of Margaret Miller (Muller). She was not related to him and came from another part of GERMANY. Thus thrown together n the long journey on a slow sailing vessel, they became well acquainted and despite the fact that one spoke "high German" and the other "low German", their acquaintance grew and ripened into a very ardent a!ection and in approximately 1725, they married. Jacobs parents settled about 30 miles NW from the port of Philadelphia at a place called Faulkners Swamp. It is believed that Margarets parents settled there also. About 1775, leaving their parents, Jacob and Margaret, their sister, Mary Price, and brothers Christian and Henry Miller, moved to Augusta County. His children, John Miller, George Miller, Barbara Mann, Catherine Conrad moved to the mountains of Greenbrier County, now Monroe. Mary Prices husband, Augustus, was born in this area and his parents lived there. In 1776 Jacob and Elizabeth (Fudge) Miller sold their land to Conrad Fudge, and also moved to Greenbrier County.

Jacob Miller was of Dutch descent and a native of Pennsylvania, he was one of the Pioneers of Kentucky, having come to the state sometime prior to 1800. Jacob Miller is controversial. He has been described as descended from the Dutch and born in Virginia, a farmer who died 15 in Warren Co., Ky. It is thought by most researchers that he came from Bucks Co., Pa. and that he was German. He is thought to have been born about 1758. It is likely that he was born in Bucks Co., Pa., migrated to Virginia and on to Kentucky. It is known that he was in Montgomery Co., Va. in 1787 and that he bought 701 acres of land located on the head of Raccoon Branch in Drapers Valley in Pulaski Co., Va. in 1797. In 1807, he sold this land to Jacob Miller, Jr., perhaps his son. Beyond this, accounts are sketchy, and dates have been put together from other facts. He married Margaret ("Peggy") Penner in Pa. Both are buried in Green River Union Cemetery, Warren Co., Ky. His will was written June 25, 1833, and was proved in April 1834 term of court, thus establishing his death in 1833 or 1834. Margaret was born around 1762, and as she was not named an heir in his will, it fs-~i~~med ~~e di~d beiore June 25, 1833. It is believed they came to KY before 1800. The Miller name is found in Warren Co., KY records as early as 1798. One record says Jacob Miller was born in Germany 1725. carne to Berks Co .. PA. and then to Frederick Co .. Md . He_could have been the first of three Jacob Millers. Jacob Miller born in 1758 in Berks Co .. PA enlisted in the Revolutionary War Julv 25. 1776 and was discharaed July 20. 1779. He is orobably the Jacob Miller starting Jacob Miller was of Pennsylvania Dutch descent. He and Margaret Penner were married in Pennsylvania. Annas record said Margaret was buried in G. R. U. Cern. Jacobs will, proved in April 1834 term of court, did not name his wife an heir but named all 12 children. We assume she had died before 1834 and that they were both buried in G. R. U. Cern.

A daughter of JacOb and Margaret Miller (I think Mary "Polly") married John Honaker in Butler Co. in 1811. When she died (one record said 1815, another 1830), her body was brought to her fathers land on a sled and was buri~d on this high point. Her mother died around 1832 and was buried beside her. The church had been organized about 1820 91 in the home of either "Uncle Rob" Taylor or James Hudnal, and soon after the burials, the Meeting House organization built a log church near the graves. The yellow poplar weatherboarded Union Meeting House that replaced it was built between 1840 and 1850. For many years only Methodists had church services there, but other denominations had met there.

married to Emanuel R Flora Sarah(Miller) Flora was crippled by a fallon ice. Her wrist was broken, and her back was injured so that she developed severe curvature of the spine. (Today, this condition probably would be diagnosed as osteoporosis.) After Emanuels death, their son, M. Ethel and his wife Vollie bought the farm, and Sarah moved to a house she and Emanuel owned in Richardsville. She had live-in help, the first of whom were Nora Alford and her son Earl. Later some of the granddaughters and her sister Eliza lived with her. There were others not related to her. She lived nearest her daughter Anna Young. She spent her last few weeks with Ethel and Vollie in the same house she and Emanuel had lived in. During her last few years, she had a series of cerebral hemorrhages and died in Ethels house 5:30 P. M., Nov. 20, 1944, age 86, 10 years after Emanuels burial. She was buried beside Emanuel Nov. 23, 1944, and their graves are marked with a pink granite. ~tone. Sarah was respectfully called "Aunt Sally Flora" by most who knew her, whether related or not.
